Terms of Service

The agreement

Last updated: May 14, 2026

Acceptable use

You agree to upload only data you have the right to upload. Don't use the service to process data for a client without their consent. Don't attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the platform.

Accounts and access

Bookkeeper accounts are reviewed and approved individually. We may decline or revoke access at any time if we believe an account is being used to violate these terms or applicable law.

What we deliver

Automated extraction and categorization are tools to expedite a CPA's workflow. They do not replace professional judgment. Every output is meant to be reviewed and refined by the CPA before being used for tax filings, regulatory reporting, or client deliverables.

We make best-effort accuracy claims but do not guarantee that extracted transactions or automatically generated categorizations are correct. The CPA is responsible for the final output.

Service availability

We aim for high availability but make no specific uptime guarantee for the demo or trial tiers. Scheduled maintenance and unplanned downtime may interrupt access without prior notice during this early-access period.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CMB (categorizemybooks.ai) is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Total liability for any direct claim is limited to the fees paid in the trailing 12 months.

Billing, refunds & credits

Subscriptions are month-to-month and metered: a transaction is counted when it is extracted from an uploaded statement; a report when it is generated. Fees are non-refundable once a billing period begins — documented, verified service failures earn account credits toward future invoices instead. Cancellation stops future billing at the end of the current paid period, with no proration. Full details in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Payment disputes

Contact us and allow ten business days to resolve any billing concern before initiating a card dispute. We keep records of terms acceptance and platform usage and submit them in response to chargebacks.

The binding agreement

Every account accepts a versioned Terms of Service inside the app at signup (and at checkout). That accepted version is the binding agreement; this page is a summary for convenience.

Changes

We'll update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be notified by email to active accounts.
